Caffeinated beverages are some of the most consumed in the world. Tea and coffee being the most common, and most health beneficial. The amount of nutrients and antioxidants in these natural hot beverages are amazing. They help to prevent diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. They are similar in content but taste and makeup are very different with these two morning time pick me ups.

Tea is a aromatic drink that is made by pouring boiling waters over cured leaves. It originated in China as a medicinal drink and made it’s way to the western world through merchants and priests. It is a loved beverage across the entire world and has many great health benefits.

A cup of black tea contains only 5 calories and is very filling which makes it a wonderful tool if you are trying to lose weight. A single cup of tea contains 95 mg of caffeine, perfect for a jolt of energy. Along with caffeine tea also contains magnesium, potassium, and folate. All of which are great for your over all health.

Tea boasts some amazing benefits for your health as well as some beauty benefits as well. Drinking tea regularly helps to reduce risk of heart disease and heart attack. It also contains a wide variety of antioxidants that help to fight against certain cancers including breast, skin, colon, and oral cancers. Tea is also incredibly hydrating which is great for your body as well as your skin.

Coffee is a caffeinated beverage that is consumed all over the entire world. It comes from coffee seeds, more commonly known as beans, from the coffee plant. These beans are then ground and hot water is then poured over the grounds through a filter. The delicious, and amazing smelling liquid that results is coffee. Along with waking you up every morning coffee has some great benefits to our health.

Coffee is consumed mainly for it’s caffeine content, which is up to 175 mg per cup depending on how strongly it is brewed. Along with this caffeine there are many other antioxidants and nutrients in coffee as well. Vitamin b5, thiamine, manganese, potassium, and a boat load of antioxidants as well. All of these have wonderful health effects.

Coffee is a great tool to maintain good health. It is great for your liver and can help to prevent developing liver disease. It also reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. The antioxidants present in coffee have also been linked to helping prevent mental illnesses such as depression and reduce your risk of suicide. Coffee also aids in digestion by stimulating the muscles involved. Cognitive abilities have also been shown to increase with regular consumption of coffee.

Differences Between Tea and Coffee

1. Caffeine
One big difference between tea and coffee is the amount of caffeine that they contain. A single cup of tea contains just around 95 mg of caffeine. A cup of coffee has over 150 mg. This is a big difference, especially if you drink multiple cups a day.

2. Where It Comes From
Tea is made from leaves of the Camellia sinensis, or the tea plant. These shurbs originate in Asia. Coffee is made from beans of the coffee plant that are located in Latin and South America.

3. The Debate
Coffee and tea are two of the most widely consumed beverages aside from water. They are consumed all over the world and by most people, they are consumed daily. People are usually either die hard coffee drinkers and life long tea lovers. The debate between which is “better” for you is an ongoing one. They both offer great benefits to your health, so which ever you love, keep on drinking!
