Sucralose Health Risks

Should I Be Concerned About Sucralose Health Risks?

Sucralose is often promoted as a healthier way to enjoy sweet things. With fewer calories than sugar, but with a flavor that is pretty close to sugar, it is thought by many that sucralose is an easy way to lose some weight and reduce health risks that are associated with obesity and too much sugar consumption. By replacing sugar with Sucralose, could people actually be increasing their overall risk of health problems?

Let’s take a look at the potential Sucralose health risks that exist.

Sucralose May Reduce the Levels of Digestive Bacteria

Current animal research shows that with continued use of Sucralose instead of sugar, the good bacteria that aid in the digestion process can be reduced by as much as 50%. This decrease in good bacteria then had a direct correlation on an increase in weight in these animals because their bodies couldn’t properly metabolize the food being consumed, making their bodies create fat cells for resource storage instead.

In addition, the lower levels of digestive bacteria affected the overall P-gp levels of the body as well. Higher P-glycoprotein levels can interfere with medications and medical procedures for severe health issues, such as cancer and heart disease, and lead to a worsening overall health condition.

Sucralose May Be Linked To Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome is a series of events that happen to your body, all at the same time, and they all have the ability to raise your risks of further health problems, particularly heart disease and diabetes. Metabolic Syndrome occurs when you have:

• A dramatic increase in fat around the belly area.
• A spike in bad cholesterol levels that does not come down.
• High blood pressure that is constant.
• High levels of blood sugar consistently.

Sucralose, as well as other artificial sweeteners, have the ability to cause this syndrome because of the irregularity caused in the digestive system. Because your body cannot process what you consume as efficiently, it does its best to cope. Metabolic Syndrome is how it copes.

There Are Numerous Detrimental Side Effects To Sucralose

A simple search can pull up a lot of health complaints that people have after consuming Sucralose. What is bothersome about these Sucralose health risks is that it only takes one serving of Sucralose to create these negative side effects! From migraines to allergic reactions on the skin to even neurological complaints, such as nausea and vertigo, there are many risks associated with each decision to consume this artificial sweetener.

How can you prevent these Sucralose health risks? The easiest way is to eat a well regulated diet that limits your sugar intake. Good sugars, such as those found in fruits and sugar cane, are easily processed by the body. Calorie reduction sweeteners based on real sugar, such as Stevia, may also provide some benefits. The ultimate question is this: would you want to eat something artificial… or something natural? Staying with natural items is the best way to reduce your Sucralose health risks.
