Shoulder Impingement Definition and Symptoms
Shoulder impingement is a syndrome where the tendons of the rotator cuff muscles are irritated and inflamed. This is a very common cause of shoulder pain. Some common causes of shoulder impingement are painting, tennis, swimming, and anything with a repetitive, above the head motion. Symptoms include difficulty reaching up back, severe pain when trying to reach overhead, if the tendons are injured for long the tendon can eventually tear into two.
