Seasonique Side Effects

Seasonique is a type of birth control pill and unlike the traditional pills, this works in a 90-day cycle. As a result, women taking this pill only got four menstrual periods per year. One Seasonique cycle is consisting of an 84-day birth control pill and followed by a 7-day routine wherein lower dose of estrogen pills are taken. Seasonique is specially designed for the purpose of stabilizing hormone level in the body of women.

Seasonique is primarily used as a contraceptive preventing pregnancy. Estradiol and Levonorgestrel are forms of estrogen and progesterone, female hormones. This medication is readily available in generic forms. This contraceptive offers women proven benefits however; there are also Seasonique side effects linked to improper Seasonique usage. Common side effects includes headache, nausea, vomiting, bloating or stomach cramping, vaginal irritation and discomfort, increased vaginal fluids and vaginal bleeding or spotting especially during the first months of usage.

 

 

Serious Seasonique Side Effects

  • Sudden weakness or numbness especially on one particular side of the body.
  • Sudden confusion and headache.
  • Pain in the eyes.
  • Problems with vision, balance and speech.
  • Heavy feeling or chest pain and pain spreading in the shoulder or arm.
  • Ill feeling.
  • Severe migraine.
  • Dark urine, jaundice, fever and loss appetite.
  • Swelling of the feet, ankles and hands.
  • Depression symptoms like mood changes, weakness  and sleep problems.

 

 

Less Serious Seasonique Side Effects

  • Mild nausea.
  • Stomach cramps.
  • Breast pain, swelling and tenderness.
  • Freckles or darkening of the skin in the face.
  • Scalp hair loss.
  • Changes in appetite and weight.
  • Decrease in sex drive.
  • Nervousness.
  • Dizziness.

It would be best for women to talk to their doctor before taking this pill to determine if this is safe and suitable for them or not. Consulting a healthcare professional is also an excellent way to save yourself from possible Seasonique side effects. In case one of these side effects continue and become bothersome, women are advised to check with their doctors. If taking Seasonique triggers severe side effects, medical attention is a must.

Not all Seasonique side effects have been reported and documented but most of these side effects are triggered by over dosage and improper use. Other possible side effects of taking Seasonique are pale stool, breast discharge, coughing of blood, fainting, double vision, vision loss and yellowing of the eyes or skin with or without accompanied fever.

The right dose and ideal frequency and interval of intake must be followed to avoid any possible side effect. This pill must be taken every day for 84 successive days. This birth control medicine might interact with barbiturates, antibiotics and pain and seizure medicines so avoid using Seasonique if you are already taking the said medications. It is also advised to tell the doctor about the medications you are regularly taking to ensure that you are safe and protected. Seasonique might also affect the quantity of milk you can produce and might trigger unpleasant effects to infant so you need to be very careful before taking this pill.
