PTSD Definition and Symptoms
PTSD, or post traumatic stress disorder, is a mental disorder that is experienced after a traumatic event in a persons life that can have many negative emotional effects. Symptoms are case sensitive but some of the most common are recurrent memories of the event, nightmares, severe emotional distress, a lack of interest in things once enjoyed, avoiding places/people/things that may spark memories, irritability, difficulty maintaining relationships, avoiding the topic of the event, feeling emotionally numb, and having negative feelings about yourself or other people.
