Posterior Tibial Tendonitis Definition and Symptoms
Posterior tibial tendonitis is an inflammation of the posterior tibial tendon as well as its sheath. This affects the tendon that runs from the inside of the ankle to the arck of the foot. This injury is due to an excess of running, dancing or other athletic activity and trauma associated with high impact. Symptoms may include pain and swelling in the foot, pain that increases when standing on the ball of the foot, tiredness in the foot after minimal activity or an inability to push off efficiently while running.
