Giving birth to a child has never been easy, that is the reasons why there are various drugs used in order to induce labor. One of which is Pitocin, which is used to strengthen labor contraction during childbirth and to even control bleeding after.
It is a natural hormone that causes the uterus to contract during labor. Pitocin should be administered with the doctors’ supervision. It is only used during pregnancy only it being prescribed by the attending physician. It is a man-made version of Oxytocin which is primarily use in stimulating contraction on the uterus.
As a synthetic Oxytocin it has been a life saver; in circumstances that both the mother and the baby is needing a drug to make the child delivery successful. This is use by physicians in order to lessen the risk of complications such as still birth.

- Neonatal Retinal Hemorrhage – In most cases it is cause by the unwanted procedure undertaken during the child delivery period.
- Permanent Central Nervous System or Brain Damage – The use of this medicine greatly affects the human mind, brain cells are being destroyed at an early age of the baby.
- Low APGAR Scores – This is used in assessing the newborns health condition.
- Neonatal Jaundice – It is a common condition to newborn babies that requires greater attention and supervision.
- Increased Risk of Postpartum Hemorrhage – This is due to excessive bleeding following the birth of the bay.it happens after the placenta is taken out by the mother.
- Fetal Death – It may have been a result of too much medicine being administered to the mother which was later being transmitted to the newborn.
- Abnormal Heart Beat – Conditions such as this are sometimes affected by genes. The use of drugs before or during the child delivery should be taken into consideration.
- High Blood Pressure – Due to the drug being administered it is common to women to increase their blood pressure moths after they have given birth.
- Rupture of the Uterus – This happens if an attempt of vaginal birth is being done and when the scar of the previous caesarian procedure was tearing opened.
- Allergic Reactions – It happens when the body does not want the medicine being administered.
- Nausea and Vomiting – This two body conditions are triggered when the medicine or drug was being administered.
- Seizures – This happens when there is an abnormal electrical activity on the brain.
- Excessive Weight Gain – It is very common to mother who just stay at home, while taking good care of their child.
- Pelvic Hematoma – This is due to the collected blood which is outside a blood vessel. That is why it is important that a mother who has given birth should induce those bloods which are left during the labor.
- Severe Headaches – This is due to the child delivery procedure that is being done by the physician, the body is prone to shock and trauma after giving birth.
