Mucinex D Side Effects

Mucinex is commonly known as Guaifenesin for its generic term, a pharmaceutical drug which is used to help relieve chest congestions. It falls in the class of expectorants that work by thinning the air passages to make coughing of mucus easier.

 

Mucinex has been used to control symptoms but does not really treat the cause of symptoms. It comes from various forms like tablet, capsules and suspensions. It was first approved by the Food and Drugs Association in the year 1952.

 

The use of this drug has been Generally Regarded Safe. Guaifenesin is available in the market; Mucinex is its brand term and it’s is one of the many brands.

 

 

Since Mucinex is a manmade medicine formula, it has its own side effect to the human body.

 

Mucinex D Side Effects

  • Nausea – Taking medications can result to nausea. Some of its causes are lightheadedness, disequilibrium, stress and depression suffered by the body.

 

  • Kidney Stones – The residues of the medicine are the one that is being form as seed crystal in the process of nucleation. This symptom have been very familiar to men, they are more prone to this kind of condition.

 

  • Vomiting – This happens when the body reacts from the drug being taken. If the stomach cannot carry the kind of medicine an individual will automatically withdraw the solution passing directly from the mouth. In most cases, it happens after the intake of medicine; it is the sense of taste and smell that delivers information through the brain and transmits actions to be taken all over the body.

 

  • Diarrhea and Constipation – This is due to undesirable food intake and sedentary lifestyle, and the use of drugs which are not helpful to the human body.

 

  • Hives – Its cause is just the same with Angioedema but it is more triggered by stress which the body has been experiencing due to allergic reactions brought by the medicine being taken.

 

  • Difficulty in Breathing – This happens when the human body condition is worsened or triggered by too much used of milk magnesia. This happens when allergies is being brought by the intake of medicine. This might be due to inflammation and swelling of the tissue linings.

 

  • Swelling of Face, Lips, Tongue and Throat – It is a life threatening allergic reaction. This condition is referred as Angioedema which is an allergic reaction to medicine or food or even insect bites and stings.

 

  • Headaches – This is brought by the medicine being intake. Headaches are due to stress received by the body during the medication process.

 

  • Lightheadedness or Dizziness – Same as the reason with having headaches this happens when the person who takes the drug cannot tolerate its taste and effects after intake.

 

  • Anaphylactic Reaction – It is a life threatening allergic reaction, it is a manifestation to hyper sensitivity.

 

  • Rashes – This happens when the drug being taken is not suited to the health condition of the patient. This is the best way to see if the person is allergic to a certain kind of medicine. It is the skin that first reacts if the drug is not suited.

  2. Give the doctor the patients health background and family history.
  3. Follow prescriptions given by the physician.
  4. Discontinue use of medicine if allergies happen, consult your doctor.
