Mirena Crash Symptoms

The Mirena IUD, or inter uterine device, is a form of birth control that is placed inside of the uterus. It works by releasing a very small amount of hormones every day into the uterus in order to block sperm from penetrating and causing pregnancy. It is a very effective form of birth control, that can be easily removed by a doctor. The only major problem that has been arising with Mirena is the severe side effects that women are experiencing once the device is removed.

Mirena Crash Symptoms

Clotting
Passing blood clots for days to weeks after the removal of your Mirena IUD is normal. These clots are normally around the size of a golf ball, but can be extremely large. If you experience clots that are larger than a dinner plate, it is important to consult your doctor immediately.

Cramping
Cramping is also commonly experienced for quite some time after the removal of the device. This is mostly attributed to the passing of the blood clots but can also have to do with the change
in hormones.

Bleeding
Continued and unpredictable bleeding may also occur up to months after the device is removed. This bleeding can range from light spotting to a heavy menstrual flow. Bleeding should not be any heavier than your normal menstrual cycle normally is. If you feel you are bleeding excessively than it is important to consult a physician immediately.

Malaise
Malaise, or just a general feeling of being sick, is also common when your body is adjusting to the Mirena being removed. This often includes headaches, body aches, and fatigue.

Mental
Along with the physical side effects, there are some quite hefty mental repercussions as well. The drastic change in hormones causes very severe mood swings. You may go from happy and laughing, to a fit of rage in a matter of hours. It can cause feelings of anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts you should seek out someone you trust or a professional to talk to.

Important Things To Remember

All of these side effects from removing the Mirena IUD will go away, with time. If you feel like something is seriously wrong you should always seek medical attention immediately, better safe than sorry! Also, keep in mind ladies, you are not crazy!
