Menorrhagia Definition and Symptoms
Menorrhagia is the medical term for abnormally heavy or long menstrual periods. Some of the common causes of menorrhagia are hormone imbalances, dysfunctional ovaries, uterine fibroids, polyps, and pregnancy complications. Symptoms include needing to change sanitary protection during the night, passing large blood clots, bleeding for over a week, soaking through one or more tampons or sanitary napkins every hour, and symptoms of anemia.
