Melasma Definition and Symptoms
Melasma is when patches of dark skin appear on the face. This is most commonly associated with the hormone progesterone and is common in pregnant women, women taking birth control pills, and women taking hormone replacement therapy. The only symptom is the discoloration of the skin.
