Lap Band Slippage Symptoms

When individuals want to lose weight they try different fad diets and different exercise routines. They could try different types of surgery. One type that they try is lap band surgery.

Lap Band Surgery

When an individual has lap band surgery it is a way of restricting the amount of food that they take in. It will also make the individuals feel full even when they have eaten smaller amounts. An individual must maintain an exercise plan and diet in order to keep with the full effects of the surgery. When you are eating it is very important to eat at a slower pace and definitely don’t eat between meals.

In order to not have any problems after the surgery an individual would want to make sure that they are following a recommended diet. A lap band slippage is one of the most common complications you could incur when having this type of surgery. There are a couple reasons why you could have a slippage.

Symptoms of Lap Band Slippage

An individual that experiences lap band slippage could feel pain, some discomfort, their appetite will be decreased, they will also have the inability to eat or drink, and they will experience vomiting. There may be a bulge that will develop above where the band is. Nausea is caused because the food is hard to pass through and it makes it feel like you have food trapped. Therefore your stomach is trying to get rid of the food which in turn makes you feel nausea.

Another symptom is if your stomach looks like an hourglass. This would occur because of the lap band slipping. Your stomach will protrude and give you an awkward bulge. Another way to know if you have experienced a slippage is if you have the ability to eat more. You may even find it difficult to eat at all. It will all depend on which way your band has ended up slipping.

When you want to have a lap band surgery you need to make sure that you follow a diet and a regular exercise routine. Another thing to do is to eat slowly. This will help also. You will want to make sure that you are chewing your food thoroughly. This will help you in trying to keep your band from slipping. If you have any of the symptoms of a band slippage you will need to call your surgeon right away. This is very important.
