Inclusion body myositis is an inflammatory muscle disease that causes slow progessive weakness of the distal and proximal muscles which are most dominant in the arms and legs. Symptoms include weakness in the wrist and fingers, trouble gripping, coordination problems, and weakness of the swallowing muscles.
