Hookah Side Effects

It is given that cigarettes are found to be the main sources of nicotine that has lead to the increasing number of people dying of lung cancer. To prevent cancer from developing with chain smokers, they found a way on how they can still smoke yet minimize the risk of the condition. This is through the use of hookahs. Though its use have been really popular because of the so-called lesser or no nicotine content of these hookahs instead of the regular cigarettes.

But in the long run, people have not seen the side effects of hookahs. Yes, the so-called alternative for high nicotine containing regular cigarettes. There are many side effects that hookahs can provide and some may be worse than what cigarettes may provide.

Hookah Side Effects

  • More Exposure to Carbon Monoxide

Given that hookah users are smoked for long sessions, smokers are in the great risk of exposing themselves in carbon monoxide. A session of smoking hookah gives a smoker the similar amount of the dangerous gas that can be acquired from a pack of regular cigarettes. The great exposure makes these smokers at risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

  • Regular Hookah Users Take VS Regular Smoking with Cigarettes

Though it is reported that hookahs do not leave as much nicotine residue to a smoker than cigarettes, the number of sessions may increase the amount of nicotine left in the body especially in the lungs than the cigarettes. Unlike cigarettes that are smoked for 1 to 2 sessions, hookahs, believed as an alternative, is smoked for several sessions with a total of 30 minutes long. This leaves the lungs with more nicotine that is worst than cigarettes.

  • Carcinogens are Always Present

Hookahs are found to always have carcinogens especially from its smoke. Since tar is not known to be water soluble, smokers will always receive almost the same amount of carcinogens as well as the tar. The tar and carcinogens absorbed by the body of the smoker from hookahs may also be the same as what they can get from cigarettes.

  • Spreads Communal Diseases Especially Ebola

The phenomenon has not only been popular from its origin countries and is spreading its popularity in other countries as well. Due to its popularity, there are already establishments offering the use of hookahs to various users. Within one session several users are smoking the same equipment in a single session. This is the main process on how viruses and other contagious diseases are acquired by users especially those with low immune system.

With these hookah side effects, there is no doubt why there are many people who are getting the same risks as what they could acquire from regular cigarettes. Though these can be preventable, its wide use just makes people ignore the consequences and continue its use.
