Hibiscus Tea Side Effects

Plants and flowers are not just known for the beauty that it brings to nature, but it is also known that some of the plant is used as medicine as an alternative on the supplements and other medicines that are priscripted by the doctor. Talking about natural, one of the famous of it is the hibiscus which is a tea that is made from the sepals of the flower that is popular as hot or cold beverage.

Hibiscus is made from the Hibiscus flower, according to the studies drinking 2 to 3 cups of hibiscus tea can help lower the BP levels. It is also helpful and effective as some hypertensive prescription medications. Drinking this tea protects oneself against hypertension especially on those who have too high BP levels. Aside from it, its flower is also used as perfumes, the plant itself is also used as treatment for cardiac and nerve diseases, as well as in the treatment of cancer. It is also give a great benefit especially for those who want to lose weight, it can help strengthen the immune system, reduce the intensity of hot flashes, and it is also effective in solving problems with dandruff and acne.

However just like any other medicines the intake of hibiscus must also be consulted first to the doctor, it is important that before the intake of it the doctor should know first the effects that it can cause to your health. Hibiscus might be helpful in lowering the blood pressure, but just like any other medicine it also has some certain side effects.

Common Side Effects of Hibiscus

Some of the side effects of hibiscus are:

• It can expand and open the blood vessels
• It can cause or result in the increase of risk for heart disease
• It can drop your systolic blood pressure
• It can cause in losing appetite
• It can irritate the stomach
• Colds
• Constipation
• Fluid retention
• Nerve disease
• Feeling of intoxicated and hallucination
• Can cause problem with focus and concentration

Aside from these side effects there are still some things that you need to consider before the intake of hibiscus, it is important that mothers who are pregnant should avoid drinking this because it is known to interfere with fertility and childbearing. It I also believed that hibiscus can reduce the level of estrogen especially those in women and because it contains polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons, it can cause birth defects.

Hibiscus can also interact with some medications that are why it is important to consult your doctor first to know that it will be safe on your health. Let your doctor know your medical history and the other medicine that you are taking together while you are drinking hibiscus tea. It is important that if you will drink it, the only things that you will get are its benefits and avoid those some of its side effects. However, even there are little side effects that is associated with drinking hibiscus, its effectiveness is still great than its side effects.
