Endometrial polyps are a mass in the inner lining of the uterus. They can either have a large flat base or be directly attached to the uterus. These polyps are caused by an overgrowth of cells in the lining of the uterus and are usually benign, but in some rare cases can turn into cancer. The exact cause of these polyps are unknown, however it is known that they are estrogen sensitive. Symptoms include bleeding between menstrual cycles, infertility, excessive bleeding during menstrual cycle, and irregular menstrual cycles.
