Dysphagia Definition and Symptoms
Dysphagia is difficulty swallowing. This means that it takes extra effort to move liquid and food from the mouth to the stomach. Pain may also be associated with difficulty swallowing, and in some cases the person can not swallow at all. Symptoms include sensation of food being stuck in your throat, unexpected weight loss, coughing when swallowing, stomach acid backing up into the throat, hoarseness, drooling, and frequent heartburn.
