The difference between yogurt and kefir are actually a lot different than most people realize. For example, yogurt is more of a cream based, which means that you can use a spoon and eat it. Kefir is more of a pourable substance meaning that you can drink it.
Most people actually prefer yogurt of kefir because it is the most common for people to see. But kefir is made from fermented cow’s milk. Yogurt is made out of fermented milk as well, but is made without alcohol while kefir is made with alcohol of 2.5%.
Kefir
Now if you’re going to pick yogurt of kefir, then you should figure out whether you want to have a weekly usage or a daily usage. Kefir is used on a daily basis for the probiotic bacteria and yeast, while yogurt is used on a weekly basis for the probiotic bacteria that it contains.
Even though kefir is used mostly for an alcoholic type drink, it can be used for other recipes as well. You can make things like banana bread and blueberry smoothies with kefir. You can even buy kefir as a powder and make kefir that way. You decide whether to make it with milk or water. But either way, you can make any type of kefir that you prefer.
Yogurt
Yogurt on the other hand is normally made by a factory or farm. It can be made in low-fat, non-fat, or original. It can either be sweet or non-sweet. Some even have fruit in them as well.
You can also use yogurt in many different recipes as well. For example, you can use it for making garlic mashed potatoes. Now if you’re going to use yogurt for food, then you will need to use the non-sweetened/plain yogurt. Not only does it make the garlic mashed potatoes taste good, but it makes it more creamy as well.
How They Are Made
So even though kefir and yogurt are both made from fermented cow’s milk, they are actually much different. Considering that yogurt is normally made with bacteria’s that are on a weekly basis use and the kefir is made with a bacterium that is to be used on a daily basis.
The bacteria’s that are used can help with your digestive system. If you need some assistance with your digestive system, then you can try either yogurt or kefir. Figure out which one you like best.
