Difference Between Masticating and Centrifugal Juicers

Deciding to buy a juicing machine is a great first step in making a commitment to a healthier life style. There are plenty of juicers on the market although there are two main types of juicers to choose from. Each style juicer has their own pluses. There is a difference between a masticating juicer and a centrifugal juicer.

Depending on what you want to get out of your juicer should direct which one is right for you.

Juicing is a very popular health trend. There are tons of studies to back the idea that juicing can help people lose weight, lower their blood sugar, lower high blood pressure and generally get the nutrition that they need easily.

Masticating Juicers

Masticating juicers are called such because to masticate is to grind, chew and tear apart. Many juicers swear by masticating juicers because they are powerful and very versatile. You can use these type of juicers to grind meat, make baby food and even make fresh homemade pasta.

There are other benefits of a masticating juicer as well. You get more bang for your buck. In other words this type of juicer is great at getting those super healthy green leafy veggies down to juice pretty efficiently you have to buy less fruit and vegetables than you do with a centrifugal juicer.

Another bonus is that these machines tend to be a lot quieter than the centrifugal juicers. There are some experts that believe because the centrifugal juicers heat up as they quickly make their spins to juice the veggies and fruits that there is some loss of enzymes in the process (there is no real proof to support this theory at this time).

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers were really the first high speed juicers. They are noisy but very powerful. They can easily juice the rinds of any fruits but they do have a bit of a problem with leafy greens. They are more affordable but harder to clean.

They do get the job done and they are typically more portable. They are great for people that are new to juicing and that are only really interested in using fruits and vegetables that are not leafy. Most experienced juicer do recommend the masticating juicer because they are more efficient and overall are cost saving.

Ultimately they both get the job done just in different ways and it is a personal choice that should be based on budget and need.
