What is the Difference Between a Latte and Cappuccino

Now a lot of people do not really know what the difference is between a Latte and a Cappuccino. All they really know is the price for either one is different than the other. One being more expansive than the other.

Latte and Cappuccino Comparison

Both Latte and Cappuccino have the basic ingredients of coffee, milk and the optional sweeteners. Now Cappuccino is made with espresso, milk, and milk foam. Normally the milk foam is actually made by a foaming machine. Now to make the foam, they take milk that has either been heated/steamed and make it into a foam, by using the machine. Now with the Cappuccino, the foam makes up normally, 1/2 contents of the cup.

As far as what the Cappuccino is served. It is normally served in a cup and saucer. Normally at the coffee house its self, while you are either on your lap top or even reading a book. But can also be made to go as well.

As far as a Latte, it is made with steamed/warm milk and espresso. When making a Latte you will pour the milk into a Latte glass, then go the espresso machine and put two back-to-back shots of espresso into the glass. Now when making the Latte you will want to use a transparent glass about 7-8oz. So that the customer can see the amount of coffee and milk in the glass. But to add the foam to the Latte it needs to be 1/2 inch thick in the top of the cup.

But even though the Latte and the Cappuccino seem the same, it is also different. It is different because it really depends on which coffee shop that you go to. For example, one coffee shop might use an exotic flavored coffee, while another may just use plain coffee.

But each place you go to, has a different nutrition chart as well. From the serving size, Calories, Fat, Carbs, and Protein. Also with both Latte and Cappuccino, you can add certain things that you like as well. But a typical Latte and Cappuccino are different from place to place.

Now, if you will notice. With a Cappuccino the foam its self is 1/2 the cups contents, while with a Latte it is made to be 1/2 inch thick in the top of the cup. So if you actually think about it. A Latte has a milder taste than a Cappuccino.
