Difference Between Lace Front and Full Lace Wigs

People wear wigs for a variety of reasons. Celebrities often wear wigs to make sure that they look their best any time that they are caught on camera. People suffering from hair loss may wear a wig to compensate for this. Often times people just think that it is fun to dramatically switch their appearance by purchasing a wig.

Lace wigs are very popular because they look natural. This is what celebrities wear most often. Lace wigs can cost thousands of dollars, but you can find good quality ones starting at around $200. When you start looking for a lace wig, the first thing you have to decide is whether you want a lace front wig or a full lace wig.

Full Lace Wigs

Full lace wigs are much more expensive than front lace. For this reason, people often prefer to go with front lace wigs whenever they can. A lace front wig is still comfortable but it is not quite as natural looking as a full lace wig. As the name suggests, a lace front wigs uses lace as the base layer for the front of the wig and then transitions to a solid material for the rest of it. Some lace front wigs have lace the whole way back to the halfway mark while other only use lace in the first couple of inches.

Lace Front Wigs

Lace front wigs are suitable if you most wear your hair down. They can be parted in the middle or on either side. The lace will be almost invisible, so it will look very natural up front. One of the problems with lace front wigs, however, is that they are adhered to your head with a line of adhesive right along your hairline across your forehead. If this is not done carefully, you will get too much glue and it will be visible.

Some people’s skin reacts to contact with the glue as well. Not only is this uncomfortable, depending on how severe the reaction is, it is also a dead giveaway that a person is wearing a wig. The final worry is that the adhesive can cause permanent damage to your edges if lace front wigs are worn too often.

Full lace wigs are more versatile than lace front wigs, though they are also more expensive. Because the lace runs underneath the entire wig, you can style them into braids, up-dos, and anything else that you would do with your natural hair. You should wear a wig cap under a full lace wig in order to protect your scalp and hair. Because a lace front wig is attached at the front of your head and a full lace wig connects more solidly with your entire head, they often feel more secure. For most purposes however, a lace front wig will do everything that you require and save you a bundle of money.
