The brand coca cola is a globally recognized brand. This carbonated beverage product went from selling nine glasses in the year of its establishment (1886) to approximately 1.8 billion drinks per day over the course of a century. This feat has put the company at the top of the beverage list in various parts of the world. It was initially marketed as a cure for some ailments like muscle exertion and migraines. Apart from the commonly popular coke, the brand features some unique products like Sprite, Fanta, Ciel, Minute Maid, Diet Coke, Diet Fanta, Fanta Apple and most recently, Coke Zero etc.
Coke Zero
The coke zero was introduced to the public at a time where people began to be more conscious of their diets and calorie intake. People wanted a soda they could take that would maintain its sweetness while adding absolutely nothing to their waistline. Its marketing and campaign was specifically targeted at men who thought that diet drinks were more of a female thing so coca cola introduced a product that had almost the same taste profile as the regular coke while containing zero calories hence the name Coca-Cola zero or coke zero. The sweetness observed in coke zero is actually achieved through the inclusion of a blend of low-calorie sweeteners.
What Differences Exist?
The subject of the differences between a regular coke and coke zero has been a debate that has been ongoing from its introduction to the market. We can easily analyze the contents of both bottles as food and beverage companies are required by law to disclose the contents or main ingredients in their products. So here are a few differences worthy of note because it is advisable to note what one takes into the body system.
1. Calories: As was mentioned earlier before, coke zero contains zero calories unlike the regular coke which contains about 400 calories per liter.
2. Carbohydrates: The regular coke features approximately 110 grams of carbohydrates per liter unlike coke zero which also zero amounts of carbohydrates. So if one were trying to keep their weight up or deliberately put on some pounds, regular coke would be the way to go.
3. Potassium Benzoate: This is a common ingredient used as a preservative in quite a number of foods and beverages and it is used in regular coke to its flavor but is found to be absent in coke zero.
Interestingly, regular coke and coke zero contain absolutely no iota of fat on one hand while simultaneously containing caffeine in various amounts on the other hand depending on consumer preferences in the various parts of the world where it is marketed. Whatever Coca-Cola decides to introduce into the market in the coming years, one thing is certain, the emergence of something quite different from the various brands they currently have in their arsenal. Until then, they will continue to keep us guessing.
