If you own a dog as a pet and you want to protect it from the world of parasites and other types of microorganism trying to harm it, you probably use advantix, and if you don’t, you certainly should. But if you have been paying attention when shopping for advantix, you also are very likely to have noticed that there is a second product, advantix II. But it’s still advantix, so what is the difference between one and the other? Don’t worry; we are here to clear the up for you.
The Original Formula
The original advantix was a very effective repellent against external parasites for your canine companion. Fleas, ticks and other annoying life forms don’t stand a chance, and the product also prevents them from re-appearing in your companion for about one month after each taken dose. The product had a huge success and it was a best-selling product – with a good reason; it worked.
Even though it had an amazing success, the original creators of the product, Bayer, decided to try and improve it a little more, just to make sure they were delivering the best product in the market. This improved product was advantix II, and it was almost the same thing, except for one simple ingredient.
The Improved Version
Advantix II has the same ingredients the original advantix has, but also has another ingredient called Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), which was added to the original list of ingredients in order to make the product a lot better against insects such as ticks and fleas. The original product was already effective, but now, the second type of advantix has the ability to destroy ticks and fleas in any stage of their lives, whether they are larvae or not.7
This means that as soon as you give your dog the product, every kind of flea and tick present in him will have a cruel faith – death. It doesn’t really matter if they are already torturing your dog or if they are still eggs or developing larvae, they will all be destroyed by the product. Not only that, but the product also contains another ingredient, one that also helps repel these insects, which means that as soon as they see your dog’s delicious meat and hair to use as their new home, they’ll naturally try to get in there, but will have absolutely no success due to the repellent in the product.
It is not guaranteed that the repellent, an ingredient called permethrin, will kill fleas and ticks on contact. Nevertheless, advantix II is a better product than the original advantix and the amount of popularity each one of these products has acquired over time has proven that – since advantix II has become a more popular product than the original one.
