Crystal Methamphetamine Side Effects

Crystal Methamphetamine or crystal meth for short is just one form of the methamphetamine drug. It is a white crystalline drug which many take by inhaling through the nose, injecting it with a needle or smoking it. Thus, some people may even take Crystal Methamphetamine orally, but all improve a strong desire to continually use it since it creates a false sense of well being and happiness – a rush and strong feeling of hyper-activeness, confidence and energy. A person may also experience decreased appetite. At first, a person may feel pleasure, but in the long run, it might destroy the user’s life. This drug is just like other street drugs on the streets like cocaine. Hence, it has also various nicknames such as crank, meth, speed or chalk.

Typical Users Of Crystal Meth

It is typically used as a club drug as partygoers make use of it while partying all night or at rave parties. Irregular use of Crystal Methamphetamine may cause some side effects bad for the body. Serious health conditions including psychotic behavior, memory loss, aggression and potential brain and heart damage are just some observed and reported cases. A short term of effect of Crystal Methamphetamine when taken in vast doses is violent and erratic behavior.

Short Term Health Effects

1. Irregular heart rate
2. Elevated blood pressure
3. Convulsions or tremors
4. Unpredictable behavior
5. Sever mood swings
6. Change in sleeping patterns
7. Loss of appetite

Effects of Continued Use

Constant use of Crystal Methamphetamine may also cause thoughts of suicide or homicide and severe paranoia, anxiety and insomnia. Side effects of Crystal Methamphetamine can be severe and swift, especially for pregnant women. It may cause a baby to suffer birth defects, including heart abnormalities or cleft palate or be born prematurely. Babies born to Crystal Methamphetamine users are oftentimes small in size because of lack of prenatal care and nutrition during pregnancy. Some users have an increase in metabolism and decrease in appetite. Hence, these side effects are only short term and eventually, your body will tolerate the drug.

Moreover, Crystal Methamphetamine also tends to increase libido, which leads to the abuse of the drug and addiction as well. If taken for a long period of time, it may cause severe psychological and physical issues.

Long Term Health Effects

1. Coma
2. Stroke
3. Brain damage
4. Hallucinations
5. Psychosis
6. A feeling of bugs crawling on the skin
7. Body sores from users picking at their skin

Relentless Crystal Methamphetamine abuse can also lead outward signs of aging in users. The drug itself destroys blood vessels and tissue as well as hampers the body’s ability to heal. Drug users frequently develop acne and their skin loses its elasticity and takes on a dull look. The teeth also begin to crack resulting in a condition known as meth mouth. Furthermore, the most critical long term side effect of Crystal Methamphetamine is death from hyperthermia or cardiac arrest. So, do not wait for your drug addiction to get to this point.
