Colonic ileus is also known as ileus, ileus (intestinal obstruction), intestinal obstruction, paralysis of colon, and paralytic colon. This excludes gallstone ileus (560.31). This applies to adynamic ileus, ileus (of intestine) (of bowel) (of colon), and paralysis of intestine or colon.
Colonic Ileus Definition and Symptoms
Colonic ileus is a partial or complete blockage of the small or large intestine. This is a common complication from surgery and can also be caused by a reduction in the blood supply to the abdomen. Symptoms include abdominal cramping, nausea, failure to pass gas or stool, vomiting, and abdominal distention.
