Cervical polyps are also known as cervical polyp, endocervical polyp, and polyp of cervix. This excludes adenomatous polyp of cervix (219.0). This applies to polyp NOS of cervix.
Cervical Polyp Definition and Symptoms
Cervical polyps are growths on the lower part of the uterus that connects with the vagina (the cervix) and is usually benign. Causes of these polpys can include a reaction to an increase of estrogen, clogged blood vessels in the cervix, and chronic inflammation. Symptoms include abnormal vaginal bleeding after intercourse, heavy periods, white or yellow mucus, and bleeding after douching.
