Calf Strain Definition and Symptoms
Calf strain is defined as a partial tear in the small fibers of the calf muscles. Repetitive strains to the muscles of the calf may be an indicator of other biochemical problems, lack of stretching, or compartment syndrome. Symptoms include pain in the back of the lower leg (level of pain varies based on the extent of the injury), difficulty walking, bruising or discoloring on or around the calf with more severe injuries, tightness in the calf muscle.
