Bipolar disorder is a mental disorder in which a person experiences intense shifts from one end of the mood spectrum to the other, either rapidly or only a few times a year. People with bipolar disorder ping pong between depression and hypermania with no noticeable cause or warning. Symptoms include sleep problems, easily distracted, poor judgement, anger, aggression, euphoria, increased sex drive, decreased need for sleep, low or increased appetite, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, guilt, sadness, irritability, and problems concentrating.
