Avascular Necrosis Definition and Symptoms

Avascular necrosis is bone tissue dying as a result of lack of blood supply. This can cause tiny breaks in the bone and eventually the bone will collapse. The flow of blood becomes interrupted if the bone is fractured or if the joint becomes dislocated. Early stages usually have no symptoms and later stages the joint may be painful when bearing weight. The pain associated can range from mild to very severe.
