Ankle Sprain Definition and Symptoms
An ankle sprain is defined as mild damage to a ligament or ligaments without instability of the affected joint. There are 3 different grades of ankle sprains ranging from mild to severe. Symptoms are pain, particularly when bearing weight on the affected ankle, swelling and occasionally bruising, restricted range of movement, and hearing a “pop” at the time the injury occurs.
