Home Remedies For Restless Leg Syndrome

Feel bothered because there is something wrong on your leg. You are experiencing twitching or jerking which is very unusual. Because of this, you are just probably lying on your bed all day and watch your ceiling instead of doing physical activities. If this is the case, you may be suffering from restless leg syndrome.

What Is Restless Leg Syndrome?

There is no definite information if where this restless leg syndrome come from. All the researchers know is that this syndrome might be connected in some other conditions humans are prone to including heart, kidney and lung disorders, arthritis and other circulatory problems, but there are times this syndrome is showing once a person is not engaged in exercising as well as taking in too much caffeinated beverages and foods. Furthermore, the person who is suffering from restless leg syndrome might get sleep deprivation, depression and anxiety.

Remedies

There are useful medications for restless leg syndrome recommended by doctors. But if you are looking for ways which will not cost you a lot and will keep you going in fighting against this syndrome, then you should do the following home remedies for restless leg syndrome.

Do some walking- there is no need to stay at home and endure this syndrome but instead go out or walk around inside your home, do some movement especially walking. This will be providing better relief and reduces jerking and twitching of your legs.

Exercise- You may also do light exercise and stretching that will not strain your legs. This should be done most especially by older folks who are having a hard time of dealing with the symptoms. Hamstrings, calves as well as the gluteal muscles should be stretched gently before going to bed.

Medication watch- taking in medication including sleeping pills and allergy pills are considered to be containing with mild stimulants which causes legs to jitter. This might just contribute to the symptoms of the restless leg syndrome.

Avoid too much consumption of caffeine- if you are suffering from this type of syndrome, then you should be avoiding too much intake of caffeinated beverages including coffee, soft drinks and OTC medications which are containing caffeine.

Avoid smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks- one of the best things you should avoid is smoking and drinking of alcoholic beverages. This will just worsen the jerking or twitching effect of the syndrome.

Taking a warm bath- doing this before going to sleep will help in relaxing the muscles thus providing you a good night sleep. You can also use a hot pack for the affected leg or even a cooler towel to ease the discomfort brought by the restless leg syndrome.

Sleep and diet- it is very necessary to get enough amount of sleep because legs are well rested and relaxed. You should also be eating all healthy vegetables and fruits to give the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

If you are really getting bothered because of restless leg syndrome then you may consider doing all the above mentioned home remedies for restless leg syndrome. All of these can help you thus will be providing a more comfortable lifestyle.
