Water Births Pros and Cons

Though giving birth is accompanied with extreme pain but then once you hear the cry of your new born child, the pain suddenly replaced with unexplainable happiness. And it is actually worth the wait and will completing of what it takes as parents.

The process of giving birth is usually done in hospitals to keep everything sterile and prevented from getting infections. There are times if the pressure can no longer be handled, pregnant women are no longer reaching the hospital and gets to the point of giving birth at home or elsewhere. Aside from these, there are other birthing processes known around the world and one of these is water birth.

What is Water Birth?

Water birth is a new method of giving birth. It is basically considered the healthier, easiest and the most comfortable way of giving life to a newborn baby. This is also bringing less pain and the whole process is becoming more of an enjoyment rather a stressing one. To know if this water birth is really reliable, see the following pros and cons of this birthing process.

Pros of Water Births

One of the pros of water birth is that they say achieving an upright position of the baby is easier. When this is the position, pushing the baby in the water is more convenient and easier rather than air. Water will support the whole process. Another, this is also providing a peaceful birthing process for the baby thus making it less traumatic. Babies who are born in water are calm and are crying less when compared of being born in air.

Furthermore, there is satisfaction when giving birth. Even though it is painful, women are still accumulating positive experience instead of the negative ones. This is basically helping a lot during the stage of pushing out the baby. Relaxation is also included as a pro of water birth. This is because of the warm feel of being in water and helping in decreasing the tense feeling as well as in you contractions. When you are breathing calmly and relaxed, the pain brought by the contractions are then reduced.

Cons of Water Birth

Aside from the advantages of the water birth, it is still accompanied with disadvantages. One of its cons is its risks of getting infection for both the mother and the baby. This can be brought by when there is sudden breakout of bowels in the water. Even though this is normal, there is a need to clean it quickly to prevent the bacteria of contaminating the whole pool. There are individuals who have undergone water birth, but then they are disappointment of relieving the pain.

Aside from these, it is risky for the newborn baby for they might breathe inside them with water which is very bothersome. This is the main reason why midwives are monitoring the whole process to ensure that it would be done in the proper way and keeping the baby safe.

Conclusion

The water birth is beneficial and a good way of giving birth. But then individuals who prefer this way should know its limits and risks. By knowing this, they are not just keeping themselves safe but also the newborn baby.
