Heel Spur Definition and Symptoms
Heel spur is a protrusion on the underside of the heel bone caused by a calcium deposit. These protrusions are found on an x ray and can extend as much as a half-inch forward. These spurs are most commonly caused by strain on the foot muscles. They typically cause no symptoms but may be associated with chronic pain while walking, jogging, or running.
