Details about Treatment Options
You cannot diagnose yourself with this condition. This psychological disorder has commonalities with many other disorders. It is imperative that you consult a doctor if you are exhibiting symptoms such as rage, decreased need for sleep, hyperactivity, excessive spending, and hyper sexuality or on the opposite spectrum, feelings of hopelessness, increased suicidality, and loss of interest in activities. It is imperative that you do not wait for it to simply go away or ignore symptoms.
This can lead to loss of life and major changes in relationships or employment. The doctor may prescribe either alone or in conjunction with mood stabilizers and anti-psychotics or perhaps a therapy or naturopathic regimen. People with Bipolar disorder who are treated can have long, happy and fulfilling lives. It is not a death sentence. The prognosis is great. See a physician as soon as possible. The earlier you start treatment the sooner, you can find a drug cocktail that works for you. Unfortunately, most of the medications for this disorder limit or prohibit alcohol usage and cause sexual problems.
