Mucinex is commonly known as Guaifenesin for its generic term, a pharmaceutical drug which is used to help relieve chest congestions. It falls in the class of expectorants that work by thinning the air passages to make coughing of mucus easier.
Mucinex has been used to control symptoms but does not really treat the cause of symptoms. It comes from various forms like tablet, capsules and suspensions. It was first approved by the Food and Drugs Association in the year 1952.
