Cogentin Side Effects

 
Benztropine or also known as Cogentin is use by patients with symptoms of Parkinson’s diseased or any uncontrolled movement because of its side effects from a certain psychiatric drug. Cogentin belongs to the class medication called anticholinergics which works by means of blocking a definite natural substance like acetylcholine. This helps lessen stiffness in the muscle, sweating and production of the saliva. This medication also improves walking ability of an individual suffering from Parkinson’s disease. This is not advisable to be taken by children who are 3 years younger.

 

 

This is commonly taken through mouth, about 2-4 times per day together with meals and during bedtime or as prescribed by your health care provider. Generally, cogentin side effects especially those who currently have allergy can experience: blurred vision, seeing circle of light, feeling hot or thirsty, pain in the eye, uncontrollable or twitching movement of legs, arms, face, tongue, lips and eyes. Some are dry mouth which affects eating, appetite, speech and swallowing. Fluttering in the chest or pounding heartbeats can also be felt. Feeling weak, unusual behavior or thoughts, hallucinations, confusions, less urinating, rigorous constipation, heavy sweating, dray or hot skin and feeling thirsty are other side effects that you must be cautious of.

If you know that you’re allergic to congentin and currently taking medication like pramlintide you must avoid taking this supplement. Inform your doctor if your suffering from liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure, glaucoma, heart disease, seizures, intestinal or stomach disorder, history of stroke and heart attack, breathing disorder, muscle or nerve disorder, mental illness and overactive thyroid gland. This can also decrease your bodies perspiration and very prone to have heat stroke.

Cogentin has less serious effects like: nausea, upset stomach, memory problems, depressed mood, mild drying of mouth, drowsiness, feeling excited or nervous, double vision, sensitivity to light diarrhea high fever, headache, shallow breathing, lack of appetite, mental or mood changes, muscle cramps, listlessness, muscle weakness, vomiting, difficulty in sleeping, pale, clammy skin, trouble concentrating, and numbness in fingers.

 

 

If in any case overdose occurs or experienced seek immediate professional help, following are the overdose symptom: wheezing, vision problem, blindness, restlessness, nervousness, trembling, unsteadiness, tearing, sweating, unsteady or shaky walk, blurred vision, unconsciousness, cold and clammy skin, eye pain, pain towards light, nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds and tingling in legs, face and arm areas.

Loss of appetite, skin rash, weight loss and enlarge pupils are some of the unknown incidence caused by this medicine. All side effects stated above will not be experienced all at the same time. Usually side effects happen, but do not need any serious medical attention. This may go along the treatment as the body adjusts to the medication. Your doctor will also advise you on how to avoid and reduce some of it. Always seek medical attention before taking and if the effects are bothersome and persisted.

Never use these medicines without the knowledge of your doctor. Change in dose or stopping may lead to much serious health problems. You must need to use this lesser and lesser every day before stopping completely.
