4 Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder Traits

Passive aggressive personality disorder is a very common condition that people suffer from, in most cases unknowingly. It is a chronic condition that can persist throughout one’s life with little or no changes to the passive aggressive personality disorder traits or their causal factors.

There are several passive aggressive personality disorder traits that can act as a reference or be indicative of the condition’s prevalence. But most of those passive aggressive personality disorder traits are merely symptomatic since psychiatrists don’t have official diagnoses or any formal method of recognizing the condition. Despite that, you should be aware of the passive aggressive personality disorder traits to know if someone is suffering from the condition.

1. A person suffering from this condition will become hostile and angry, more often than frequent. The degree of anger and hostility, or the severity of the two, will increase over time. In a practical sense, the condition is borne out of a person’s approach to life where in he or she adheres to the desires or wishes, whims and needs of another person or other people. The person may not want to act in that manner but does so anyway. This constant conflict of what he or she does and which he or she doesn’t want to do leads to hostility and anger. Passive aggressive personality disorder can also be caused due to genetic or environmental factors but they are almost always beyond one’s control.

2. Common passive aggressive personality disorder traits include shrugging responsibility or resenting them in the garb of certain excuses. The excuses could be in the form of forgetfulness, deliberate or otherwise, procrastination and feigned inefficiency. The seeds of such behavior lay in the fact that the tasks that the person is asked to perform or the duties that one has to attend to are not to the person’s liking and instead of openly expressing their disagreement or disinterest, they develop the passive aggressive personality disorder traits.

3. A person suffering from this condition may act or appear to be sullen, will be intentionally inefficient, shall have a tendency of blaming everyone but oneself, will complain at all times or when the triggers of the condition are enforced, they would fear authority and also resent it, shall be closed to all ideas and will not be receptive of changes or anything that discomforts them.

4. Some other passive aggressive personality disorder traits include doing things too late and thus ensuring that the task done has little value or help, the task may be done in a manner that it is futile or a complete waste and there may be attempts of sabotage.
