Dissociative Fugue was known before as psychogenic fugue and the word “fugue” was derived from a word coming from the Latin language for “flight”. 1. Adam Duritz
Adam Duritz is a famous musician who became frontman of an alternative rock band called Counting Crows in the past. Just like an ordinary man, he attends in several kinds of social activities. And in fact, one of his favorite activities is dating with famous actresses. At the back of his great fame and admirable image as a celebrity, a hidden mental illness causes a lot of problems in his life. Before, he admitted that he has a depersonalization disorder which makes him feel separated from the real world. Most of the time, Adam Duritz feel like everything in his life is not part of the reality. It was a feeling that is very hard to explain. Several months have passed until he finally realized that he has a dissociative fugue. Instead of leaving his profession, he decided to undergo an extensive and dependable medication that will make him healthier to overcome the effects of this mental illness. And after the medication, he returned in the music industry as a musician who is more confident about himself and his identity as a person.
2. Roseanne Barr
It was October 18, 1998 when Roseanne Barr started to appear in ABC channel for an American sitcom entitled “Roseanne”. During that time, she was one of the famous celebrities in American television who took the highest ratings in that project. She gained a lot of fame from this television show as an actress. However, her overwhelming success and fame didn’t help her in hiding her mental illness which is highly related to Dissociative Fugue. She was a victim of Dissociative Identity Disorder. This mental illness established an odd behavior in her personality as an actress. It was detected when she claimed that she was a victim of child abuse after discussing a topic about it in her blog. But she was not a real victim of such violation based on the statements of her family members.
3. Hershel Walker
Hershel Walker was a former member of the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. And one of the most remarkable moments in his life is the time when he won the Heisman Trophy after winning a very popular competition. Dissociative Fugue was detected in him when he started to claim that he can’t remember that he won the trophy in the past. Another proof for his mental illness was his history of abuse from his peers who bullied him severely during his childhood years.
