Renal artery stenosis is when the renal artery is narrowed, usually caused by fibromuscular dysplasia. This narrowing can block blood flow to the kidney. Symptoms of renal artery stenosis include acute hypertension (sudden onset), increased waste product in the blood, and unexplained kidney failure.
